Who will Hillary Clinton debate in 2016?

We need to see Democratic debates, not just have one person anointed like royalty to be the nominee for President. We always see the clown car in town whenever the Republicans have a debate. I say, bring in the Democratic clowns as well.

GOP clown car

But Elizabeth Warren says she won’t run; Bernie Sanders says he might; while Hillary Clinton is just playing coy.

My prediction: Warren and Sanders won't run, but Hillary will (after neutralizing Warren, and when Sanders decides not to run); and then we'll be stuck with another political dynasty (either Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush) — and nothing much will change.

Or things might get worse...

The Republican-controlled states might pass more voter suppression laws, more right-to-work-laws, more drug-testing laws, more anti-abortion laws; more “stand your ground” laws; more cuts to Medicaid and food stamps (with means-testing, etc.); more cuts to unemployment benefits; more cuts to pensions — and more tax breaks for the rich.

Meanwhile, the GOP-controlled Congress will cut Social Security rather than pass a war tax to send ground troops to the Middle East to fight ISIS. They will cut TANF (and anything else they can get their paws on, except for defense spending) rather than tax the rich one penny to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure.

At least if we had a Democratic debate, we can get Hillary on the record about a few things, so that later (if she’s elected), we can point a finger at her and chastise her for all the promises she broke to favor the banks, big corporations and the very rich. In other words, nothing much will change.

Besides, even with a Democrat in the White House in 2017 (like we have now in 2015), what can Hillary do with a GOP-controlled Congress that Obama can't do today? Except maybe to "compromise" more with the Republicans (meaning, allowing bad things to happen, but not quite as bad as the Republicans would have preferred.)

Maybe we'd be better off with a Tea Party candidate as president — and let Congress do whatever in the Hell they damn well please until the next mid-term elections. Give America the full taste of the GOP agenda, and then we'll see how the voters feel afterwards. (Or if things go horribly wrong, maybe by 2020 the Republican voters will probably still be blaming Obama.)

But Democratic leaders only have themselves to blame. They could have fixed a lot of stuff back in 2009 and 2010 (like tax reform and the minimum wage), but they didn't. So after losing Congress, maybe the Dems deserve to lose the White House as well. And things will have to get much worse before we can hope for anything to get any better.

And when one thinks about it (excluding a GOP Congress), what's really the real big difference between a Democrat like Hillary Clinton or a Republican like Jeb Bush? They're more alike than they are different. So when they debate each other, the next presidential election could be a real toss up. But then again, it wouldn't really matter who won, would it?
