Now, if you collect Canada Pension at 65 you will only get around $600 a month to live on until you are eligible for the OAS. Which means that if you have no other savings you will have to work till 67. If a worker here loses his/her job in their 60s good luck getting another. Even an entry level job seems closed to older workers. If you are lucky enough to get someone to hire you it will be probably half of your original salary. That's exactly the position I was in when I was forced to retire because of ill health. When I tried to re-enter the workforce I only got as far as the interview (usually with someone half my age). Despite what the media says the jobs are few and far between here and there are many applicants for every job.John Tnoreply@blogger.com
