This year ...Michael Moore endorses Bernie Sanders:

This year they are claiming that there’s no way a “democratic socialist” can get elected President of the United States. That is the main talking point coming now from the Hillary Clinton campaign office. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary recently announced the most looked-up word in their online dictionary in 2015 was “socialism.” If you’re under 49 (the largest voting block), the days of the Cold War & Commie Pinkos & the Red Scare look as stupid as “Reefer Madness.” If Hillary’s biggest selling point as to why you should vote for her is, “Bernie’s a socialist!” or “A socialist can’t win!”, then she’s lost.

http://michaelmoore.com/myendorsementofbernie/ Bud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7895164153505105997.post-23009961064324149392016-01-30T13:30:29.859-08:002016-01-30T13:30:29.859-08:00The Guardian:

The Clinton campaign has aggressively pushed the narrative that Sanders’ record on gun safety has, on occasion, been more aligned with the agenda of the National Rifle Association. In return, Sanders has consistently pointed to his D- rating from the NRA ... In past campaign speeches and on the debate stage, Clinton has pointed to Sanders’ votes against the Brady bill – Reagan-era legislation that imposed federal background checks and a waiting period on gun purchases – and for a 2005 regulation that granted gun manufacturers legal immunity if weapons were used to commit crime. She has also pointed out that Sanders once voted in favor of the so-called “Charleston loophole” – the name for a provision under which a gun sale is required to proceed if a background check is not completed within three days.

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jan/30/hillary-clinton-guns-bernie-sanders-iowa-emails

POLITIFACT: Fact-checking Hillary Clinton's claim that Bernie Sanders supported 'Charleston Loophole' (Mostly True)

The Brady Bill didn’t contain a waiting period that required purchasers to wait to receive their firearm. Rather, the bill set a time limit for the government to conduct its background checks. Sanders, then in the U.S. House of Representatives, voted against the Brady Bill five times -- including a version that reinstated a five-day time limit for background checks. In November 1993, Sanders voted for an amendment imposing an instant background check instead. The problem was technology for instant checks didn’t exist at the time. As a result, according to the Washington Post Fact-Checker, supporters of the Brady bill were forced to negotiate a compromise. What first was proposed as 10 days for the government to conduct the check ultimately was whittled to three days. The final compromise version of the Brady bill was passed and signed into law on Nov. 30, 1993 [by Bill Clinton]. It prohibited the transfer of a gun to an unlicensed individual, unless three business days have lapsed and the system has not notified the transferor that it would violate the law. Sanders voted against the final bill.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/jan/17/hillary-clinton/fact-checking-hillary-clintons-claim-bernie-sander/
Bud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.com
