The proposed TPP trade pact would integrate the U.S. economy with one of the world’s most corrupt and notorious slave states, Malaysia, where millions of men women and children are routinely sold into forced labor and the sex trade. Last Monday, the State Department took Malaysia off a list of countries with particularly egregious human trafficking records, just in time to clear the path for the country’s participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_trafficking_in_Malaysia
http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/68376779/malaysias-human-trafficking-may-doom-trans-pacific-partnership
https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/07/27/blocked-trade-pact-failure-trafficking-malaysia-suddenly-gets-passing-grade/
http://thediplomat.com/2015/07/us-upgrades-malaysia-in-trafficking-report-boost-for-tpp-blow-to-rights/
http://asiapacific.anu.edu.au/newmandala/2015/07/24/malaysias-deadly-connection/
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/malaysia/11767174/David-Cameron-criticised-for-Malaysia-visit-amid-corruption-scandal.html
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7895164153505105997.post-75611576524251974092015-08-01T13:47:38.065-07:002015-08-01T13:47:38.065-07:00Robert Reich also mentioned this and the Greenspan...Robert Reich also mentioned this and the Greenspan Commission in 2011 when the cap was then $106,800 (today it’s $118,500)

http://robertreich.org/post/7940507194

Besides raising or eliminating the cap, I also proposed taxing capital gains for Social Security as well. Such a move would improve their solvency and ensure that America’s disabled workers and retirees can continue to receive their earned benefits well into the future. According to the 2015 Social Security Trustees report, the SSDI trust fund would no longer be able to pay full benefits in 2016 unless Congress takes action. Becerra’s bill would ensure that both remain solvent through 2033. Bud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.com
