But .3% finding a holiday or permanent position is actually a BEST CASE scenario. Some or all of that .3% may simply have run out of unemployment benefits, so they are no longer counted in the unemployment rate; or as Bud Meyers points out, "that number is driven by a decline in the size of the measured workforce (many people just aren't counted by the government any longer.)"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7895164153505105997.post-19646875352429604302011-12-13T11:23:50.194-08:002011-12-13T11:23:50.194-08:00Extending a payroll-tax cut would benefit some 160...Extending a payroll-tax cut would benefit some 160 million Americans?

There should be 160 million workers in 2011, because we had 154 tax filers in 2009 + 6 million who graduated from high school and college since 2009 = 160 million.

Now take 160 million (what there should be) MINUS 27 million currently unemployed = a reduced workforce of 133 million. Extending a payroll-tax cut would benefit some 133 million Americans, not 160 million.Bud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7895164153505105997.post-77885732596982757662011-12-04T21:14:20.153-08:002011-12-04T21:14:20.153-08:00To make it simple currently the unemployment rate ...To make it simple currently the unemployment rate sits at 8.9% it was 9.2% this means .3% of the unemployed found holiday positions or the lucky few found a permeate position. However most of us are living human beings represented in those cold numbers continue to be unemployed and devastated by this emotionally and financially; those 3% that found temp or long term employment won’t catch up with themselves for at least the next 5-7 years. I’d say our government has nothing to boast about.wessonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16353181741094340709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7895164153505105997.post-34995530154759209672011-12-04T12:04:38.374-08:002011-12-04T12:04:38.374-08:00This months' jobs report sees a large decline ...This months' jobs report sees a large decline in the reported unemployment rate down to 8.6%. But that number is driven by a decline in the size of the measured workforce (many people just aren't counted by the govermment any longer.)

“You’d like to see the unemployment rate coming down when people are coming into the job market, not disappearing,” James Glassman of New York City’s JP Morgan Chase & Co. tells Bloomberg News. “That’s probably exaggerating the trend in unemployment.”

http://rt.com/usa/news/rate-unemployment-percent-labor-899/Bud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.com
