There is nothing in this world that I would like more than to face Donald Trump. We would beat him and we would beat him badly.” Pressed on the question of some of his more ambitious proposals, he said that he believes some of his ideas are possible because of the sheer number of voters who he thinks have been marginalized in the electorate. “That is why billionaires are able to buy elections,” he says. But with young people, minorities and others, he says, “we can raise the minimum wage, we can create jobs.” Finally, Sanders gets the Bloomberg question of the day. “Well, my reaction is if Donald Trump wins and Mr Blomberg gets in. you’re going to have multibillionaires running for president of the United States. I don’t think the American people want to see the U.S. move toward an oligarchy.”Bud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7895164153505105997.post-92172118246866244712016-01-24T10:42:09.038-08:002016-01-24T10:42:09.038-08:00The Guardian:

Bloomberg has apparently described Clinton as a flawed politician whose campaign is in jeopardy from the continuing investigation into emails on her home computer server while she served as secretary of state. But Bloomberg would not enter the race if Clinton, despite shifting to the left, wins the Democratic nomination. But there are already fears that a Bloomberg insurgency would likely damage a Democrat candidate more than a Republican. Aides also said any decision would not be dependent on Clinton’s fortunes alone, but “the fact is Hillary Clinton is behind in Iowa and New Hampshire. That should scare a lot of people – and it does.”<br /><br />http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jan/23/michael-bloomberg-considers-third-party-presidential-bidBud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7895164153505105997.post-66570396179681738262016-01-24T10:37:28.103-08:002016-01-24T10:37:28.103-08:00The Guardian reports:

While it’s not clear whom Bloomberg would steal the most votes from, Bloomberg could, however, steal away the votes of moderate Republicans. Clinton’s campaign could be devastated by a third-party candidacy from Bloomberg. Even if Clinton wins the nomination, sources close to Bloomberg have revealed several factors that might persuade him to run anyway: The federal investigation shrouding Clinton’s use of email could weaken her credibility, as could losses to Sanders in the Iowa and New Hampshire elections. But the Bloomberg story isn’t just potentially helpful to Trump. Looked at another way, it could be a fortuitous turn for Sanders, who has long sought to frame his campaign through the lens of class warfare. If Trump wins his party’s nomination and Bloomberg enters the race, it would be Bernie versus the Billionaires. This could be his big break [for Bernie]."<br /><br />http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jan/24/michael-bloomberg-2016-new-york<br />Bud Meyershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02065020063363023395noreply@blogger.com
