GOP Budget - Prosperity for the Rich, Austerity for Everyone Else

From the Huffington Post's Daily News Brief today - "The tax deal last December was perhaps the greatest domestic policy shame of our time. In that particular capitulation to greed, Obama agreed to extend the tax breaks for the richest Americans, slash their estate taxes, give other corporate tax breaks, and raise the deficit by nearly $1 trillion over 2011 and 2012. Now, he has agreed with the far right to slash entitlements spending for the poor in another "historic" act of cooperation. One more such historic act of cooperation and we'll be completely ruined."

Read that Huff Po article then read this newsletter I got this morning from Americans for Prosperity (who advocates cutting taxes for the rich while cutting spending for the poor, just so rich people can prosper more. My comments are in this color):

• In USA Today, Speaker Boehner says "The Path to Prosperity" is a powerful blueprint for economic growth and fiscal responsibility that will help our economy get back to creating jobs (8.5 million were lost even WITH the Bush tax cuts), stop Washington from spending money we don't have (because the rich weren't paying their fair share of taxes for the last 10 years), and lift the crushing burden of debt that threatens our children and grandchildren (what about the crushing budgets cuts that the unemployed and the poor people with children must endure while the bankers and corporations make record profits?)
• The GOP budget outlined by Chairman Ryan would cut $6.2 trillion in government spending over the next decade, prevent job-crushing tax hikes (just taxes on the rich, and that won't "crush" them at all!), and help create nearly 1 million new private sector jobs next year alone (only 1 million jobs were created LAST year and only kept up with population growth - it did not put the 8.5 million who lost jobs during the Great Recession back to work.)
• The budget also keeps a Pledge to America commitment to set strict caps to limit annual federal spending to create a better environment for private sector job growth (yadda, yadda, yadda. We continued to lose jobs to outsourcing all during the Bush Tax Cut Years while the rich weren't being taxed fairly.)
• Speaker Boehner says Republicans are moving our fight from saving billions of dollars to saving trillions of dollars with "The Path to Prosperity". ("Saving" trillions on the backs of the poor- - - the rich aren't being asked to sacrifice anything!)
• These cuts will result in hundreds of billions of dollars in savings for (rich) taxpayers over the next ten years – “real money,” as the Wall Street Journal argued. (And we all know by now that Wall Street NEVER sleeps!) 
• In his op-ed for USA Today, Speaker Boehner says the spending cut agreement “is far from perfect, and we need to do much more if we're serious about creating new jobs, fixing our spending-driven debt crisis, and ending the uncertainty that continues to plague our economy.” (The same old "uncertain" B.S. - - Raise taxes on the rich. Then at least THAT can be a certain!)
• The House passed legislation by Rep. Allen West (R-FL) that will save taxpayers $180 million over five years by reducing wasteful Defense Department printing and reproduction costs. (WOW! A whole $36 million from a $700 billion annual budget. That's the best they can do? That's all they can brag about?)
• The Administration reached an agreement with Colombia on a trade pact that Speaker Boehner says will strengthen our economy by “expanding markets for American goods and services.” (This is CODE for outsourcing more jobs.) Small businesses are urging swift action on all three pending trade agreements to help create new American jobs. (American jobs, or Chinese jobs? And why is SMALL business being lumped in with BIG business who evade paying corporate income taxes?) 

Don't we all get tired of hearing how "excessive regulations create uncertainty for job creators"? That has always been the big GOP corporate lie, and too many idiots keep believing them...year after year after year! When will they ever learn? The GOP takes from the middle-class and gives to the rich. It's THEY that redistributes the wealth! The GOP just cuts programs for poor people while also cutting taxes for the rich. They throw the "working-class" a bone once in a while so they'll keep voting for them. That's all. It's that simple.

The Republicans, the Tea Party, and the Americans for Prosperity advocate for wealthy people's "prosperity" - - - and forces "austerity" on the middle-class, the poor and everyone else who isn't rich.
