Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) says he has no interest in a budget deal that trades sequestration relief for entitlement cuts. Instead, the Senator told The Huffington Post that any large-scale debt-reduction deal must include increased revenue in exchange for changes to mandatory spending programs.
What EXACTLY does Harry mean? That he'll be willing to impose chained-CPI on Social Security cost-of-living-adjustments for poor seniors (for less future monthly benefits) in exchange for taxing capital gains for billionaires as regular wages, instead of the much lower rate that they now pay?
Also, what was in this deal that Uncle Harry made to reopen the government? HuffPost Hill: "Until yesterday, we assumed Kentucky Kickback was something you drink out of a jug while wearing overalls."
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said there were
"bigger things to object to" in the bill (that reopened the government) than the
$2.1 billion for the so-called "Kentucky Kickback" dam project. Reporters had pressed her at length on the congressional practice of inserting special interest provisions into appropriations bills.
Pelosi responded that many of her members have some of the same questions about certain elements of the bill that was negotiated in Section 123 of the Senate bill that secured
$2.1 billion for the Olmsted Lock and Dam Authority to fund a dam project on the Ohio River --- a significant boost from the $775 million
that was originally allotted.
The Republican and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who brokered the Senate deal, has been criticized over the provision, and the
Senate Conservatives Fund has attacked him for seeking a "Kentucky Kickback".
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also defended the provision late Wednesday, noting it was "not an earmark" and that there was "no need to point fingers at anyone."
Everybody knows, it's common knowledge now, that Harry and Mitch has had a personal
friendship that goes back many years --- and we know that their tit-for-tat
favors are common in Congress.
Harry Reid has screwed us before my not reforming the filibuster as he had promised. And Harry Reid gave $72 billion to gas and oil. Harry Reid also voted with the Republicans AGAINST background checks for gun purchases. And Harry Reid also has corrupt friends. (And we know how chummy Harry Reid is with the Las Vegas casino owners.)
Senator Harry Reid was recently asked if he was ready to divulge the source behind his claim that Mitt Romney didn't pay taxes for nearly a decade. The majority leader insisted that he did indeed have a source, but just said, "Mums the word." So Harry Reid also protects tax evaders.
So we here in Nevada once had a choice to make --- Harry Reid or Sharron Angle --- CRAP!!! Again, as always, it's the better of two evils.
ReplyDeleteIn a statement explaining why he voted against the legislation to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling, Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) pointed to the pork stuck into the bill at the last minute: "Finally, the deal is full of pork." It's true that the bill contained nearly $3 billion for an Ohio River lock project that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has supported in the past --- although the funding request actually came from Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein (who also profits from the U.S. Post Office closings) and Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), who are both on the Appropriations Committee. No political party in the U.S. can be trusted --- corruption rules the day.

The former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (out on appeal from prison) insisted that most people in the 'real world' consider Senator Ted Cruz and the House Republicans to be heroes. DeLay said on CNN: "Out here in the real world, outside of New York and Washington, D.C., these people think Ted Cruz is a hero. They think that those Republicans in the House are heroes. And they think that Obama is destroying this country." Ass-wipe!
