Fox News Ambushes Senator Bernie Sanders

The O’Reilly Factor recently sent its usual ambush reporter Jesse Watters down to Washington to harass Senator Bernie Sanders with silly and frivolous questions. Sanders told Watters: “I don’t do ambush interviews, so if you want to talk to us, there’s my press secretary."

On Fox News last night Bill O'Reilly accused Senator Bernie Sanders of being "big time" now because he was running for President and was too busy to return phone calls or appear on O'Reilly's show — even though Bernie has appeared on his show several times in the past.

When will we also see Hillary Clinton getting ambushed by the immature Fox News punk Jesse Waters —  and when will we also see Hillary on Bill O'Reilly's show again?

IN OTHER MORE SERIOUS NEWS

The Nation: "Bernie in the Lion’s Den: The socialist senator from Vermont wasn’t exactly eaten alive at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University in Lynchburg". Huffington Post: Bernie Sanders challenges Liberty University students to see inequality as a moral issue.

Proving once again that TV and Hollywood celebrities and politicians are interchangeable (or are one of the same.) Washington Post: Arnold Schwarzenegger will take over as host of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” next season. Ronald Reagan was once an actor too ;)

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Donald Trump called skyrocketing CEO pay “a complete joke,” but explained on CBS’ “Face the Nation” that nothing can be done because executives stack corporate boards with their friends. “That’s the system that we have and it’s a shame and its disgraceful.” Even Republicans are getting on the Economic Populist bandwagon, because it works!

The Nation: Five Vital Lessons from American Labor’s Rise and Fall: America’s unions have been in retreat for decades. Like most Republicans, Gov. Scott Walker want to kill collectively bargaining, create a federal right-to-work law and eliminate the National Labor Relations Board.

Similar to yacht envy: "My penis is bigger than yours." CNBC: Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, said he would “crush” Trump if he got into the race. “No doubt about it.”

Huffington Post: Over the course of 20 years, Johnson & Johnson created a powerful drug, promoted it illegally to children and the elderly, covered up the side effects and made billions of dollars. This is the inside story. (* I like the website's design)

Bloomberg: "On the campaign trail this year, Carly Fiorina has been a staunch advocate of keeping crippling sanctions on Iran, but under her leadership, Hewlett-Packard sold hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of products to Iran through a foreign subsidiary, despite strict U.S. export sanctions."

The Nation: No, We Shouldn’t Privatize PBS

(Or Social Security.)

Daily Kos: The protests and the articles coming out against DNC chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz are getting uglier (she won't sanction more Democratic debates.)

Washington Post: The company that housed Hillary Clinton's private server told The Washington Post that, to its knowledge, the e-mails were not actually “wiped” from the server but only deleted. This means we might still learn what they said.

If you believe a Washington Post /ABC News poll (conservative leaning media outlets), according to their poll — without Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton jumps 14 points to 56 percent among Democratic-leaning voters, while Bernie Sanders rises four points, to 28 percent ... In July, 64 percent of white women said they supported Clinton, but today it is just 31 percent, the same level as Bernie Sanders, whose support has doubled among this group ... In a hypothetical general election, Clinton runs about evenly with Trump, leading 46 percent to 43 percent among registered voters. Clinton holds a much bigger lead, 51 percent to 39 percent, among ALL adults (not just registered voters). [* But I think the truth is, the Republicans WANT Hillary Clinton to run, believing that their lead GOP candidate will have a much better chance against her in 2016 than Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden.]

My daily question (a.k.a. My morbid thought of the day): After reading about the death of Kurt Cobain (of the band Nirvana) as a "suicide" and not a "homicide", I wondered why he used a shotgun to violently deform his face, rather than (as a regular user) just peacefully overdose on heroine? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

  1. Buried in the Senate-passed version of the big highway bill is a provision that would require the Treasury secretary to use private debt collectors to collect unpaid back taxes. The provision was added to the bill by Republican leaders.

Jeb Bush's proposed tax plan would add at least a trillion dollars to the national debt (and likely much more) over the next 10 years unless the revenue loss is offset by significant spending cuts.

STUDY: Economic growth outpaced any gains in median household income in every state from 2000 to 2013 ... As the top 1 percent of income earners have gotten a larger portion of the country’s overall wealth, household income growth for the middle has become decoupled from economic growth.

New autoworkers hired by [the Detroit Three] companies start at a wage of just $15.78 an hour, not much higher than the $15-an-hour national minimum wage recently proposed by Bernie Sanders. Workers at nonunion plants owned by manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda and BMW generally make less than those employed by the Detroit Three. So do most American workers.

  2. General Electric announced plans on Tuesday to move 500 jobs overseas [and] blamed the Republican-led Congress’s failure to keep the federal Export-Import Bank open to help finance new deals ... Antigovernment populists who deride the Ex-Im Bank as “corporate welfare” or “crony capitalism” so far have won in Congress, blocking reauthorization of the agency.
