  2. New York Times (Feb. 19, 2016) Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont spent Friday crisscrossing Nevada, holding rallies in three cities hundreds of miles apart and making his final pitch to voters on the eve of the state’s Democratic caucuses. Flying on a chartered plane, Mr. Sanders, accompanied by his wife, Jane, and a stepdaughter, Heather Titus, held events in Elko, Sparks and Henderson.

“The world has changed a lot in the last three months, because what we are doing is treating the American people with intelligence and we are raising the real issues that are on the hearts and minds of every American. I hope we have a very large, very very large, voter turnout tomorrow. Show the world that democracy is alive and well here in Nevada.”

ABC News (Feb. 19, 2016) On the eve of the first-in-the-west Nevada caucuses, Bernie Sanders held his final rally in the state, which took the form of a lively concert in Henderson, right outside Las Vegas. After an intense day of campaigning, flying across the state for events in three different cities, Sanders closed the night with confident proclamations:

"I have a feeling, folks, we are going to make history tomorrow," he said. “It could be that 10, 20, 30 years from now people look back at what happened in Nevada and say this was the beginning of the political revolution.”

  3. Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and School Chancellor Kaya Henderson had a five-day taxpayer-funded vacation in Havana. The two departed for the Communist-led tropical island to determine how the impoverished nation could boast a literacy rate of 99.8% while the US capitol city’s functional literacy rate is 64%, according to a recent report by the State Education Agency.
